BASE Camp Philosophy

These programs are being developed by Matt Blank in collaboration with the Next Level Instructor Core. Their aim is for each generation of BASE jumper to progress past the generation that preceded them. Their design is based on one core concept (Compasses over Maps) where the focus is on providing jumpers with tools to make informed decisions rather than prescribing a set of rules based on historical standards.

Matt is a professional B.A.S.E jumper, working in the United States and internationally as a commercial stuntman, sponsored athlete and instructor. Graduating from UCI with a degree in sports psychology, he has built a career in extreme sports and holds instructional ratings in mountaineering (AMGA), rock climbing (CWA), snow-sports (AASI), Skydiving (USPA) and wind tunnel flying (IBA). Matt’s resume also includes several world records in skydiving and motorsports as well as certifications in high-angle search and rescue.
